The Oxford Kitchen
It is with deep sadness that we announce the closure of the Oxford Kitchen for the foreseeable future in light of recent government announcements.
The health and well-being of our customers and staff are of course more important than anything, but following the dictates of avoiding social spaces, not going to pubs, restaurants and the like, with no customers, our reason for being becomes meaningless as well as unsustainable.
By taking swift action, we plan to pay our staff and suppliers what they are owed and are truly devastated, as our wonderful team are too, that we have to cut this journey short so soon after achieving our Michelin star, the only restaurant in Oxford to be awarded such an accolade.
Whilst we in no way blame the government for this decision, the Coronavirus scare has resulted in a complete void of customers wanting to frequent our high streets and social spaces, the future for our Nation’s pubs, restaurants and venues is bleak for some time to come.
We wish to thank all of our past and present customers for supporting us on our journey, it’s been a blast, and thank you so much to our wonderful team headed up by Paul Welburn, a true culinary genius, who do not deserve such an outcome but will survive, bounce back, delight customers and achieve accolades once again somewhere new.
Thank you Oxford, goodbye Summertown!
Yours regrettably
